Presentation:

The National Institute of Civil Defense (INDECI), is the central entity, rector and conductor of the National System of Civil Defense, responsible of the population organization, planning and control of the activities of Civil Defense, also leading the management of the Risk Disaster in harmony with the State Policy in Risk Prevention.

Since its creation, INDECI has encouraged the Prevention Culture in case of Disasters in Peru through a group of regulations, strategic plans, doctrines and guidelines that permanently are standardized internationally with the aim of Reducing the Risk of Disasters.

Mission:

Govern and lead the National System of Civil Defense, formulating and promoting the implementation of policies, regulations, plans and programs for preventing and attention of disasters, with the participation of authorities and the population; aimed to protect the life and the patrimony, and contribute to the sustainable development of the country.

Vision:

Modern efficient, effective and leader entity, in its role of rector entity, normative and conductor of the National System of Civil Defense, in the prevention and attention of disasters, it has the reliability and commitment of the authorities and the population, contributes to the sustainable development of the country, with international.

Institutional Principles:

Humanitarian Protection: Its activities are oriented to relieve the pain or suffering of the Human Being to the effects of disasters.

Self Help: Help arises from the affected population itself taking advantage it’s timely and properly potential.

Contingency at The Collective Interest: The needs of the affected population prevail on the particular interests and orientate the selective use of the available means.

Convergence of Efforts: To the affected area must concur the material resources and also the efforts of people and entities rationally depending of the disaster type.

Permanent and Planned Action: The country is menaced by many phenomena that cause disasters, which oblige to keep a permanent state of alert.

Institutional Aim:

Avoid or mitigate the loss of lives, material assets and the deterioration of the environment, that as a consequence of the demonstration of the natural origin hazards or the ones caused by the human activity that may turn into an emergency or disaster situation, that interrupt and therefore delays the sustainable development of Peru.
